Hmm. I just installed kubuntu intrepid on my partners machine (as well 
as my own). It's an AGP machine with a nvidia 5600 and has all the 
compositing turned on also.

I'm not seeing the problems you're describing. We're using Firefox, so I 
can't comment on Konq and Opera for web browsing issues.

Have you installed the flash and java plugins for Firefox?

Can you elaborate on the "none of the sites rendering properly" comment?

It really should NOT, be necessary to go back to Hardy.
