[plug] file not found at start of boot sequence

Hi Rob, long time between posts ;-)

Maybe not really answering your question, but have you set pnp
(plug-n-play) to 'off' or 'false' in the bios settings? This is a
'default', I believe. If that is set then you may find the need for
pnpbios=off to be a redundant kernel setting. Other than that, why
disable acpi unless you had specific problems with your hardware when
installing your distro? I would have thought that checking the pnp
setting in bios and using the second kernel entry you gave was the way
to go to solve your probs :-/
