Rather surprising to me, but I don't have much understanding of the 
interaction between two distros. Ubuntu is based on Debian. Ubuntu works 
better in this particular regard than Debian. What gives? Heck, can't 
Debian just grab the better driver and use it? Or are they using the 
same driver, but in a way that doesn't perform as well?
