Most sierra based 3g usb dongles (Telstra Elite - Sierra USB 308) work with
Linux. In fact most usb-dongles work with Ubuntu nowadays.
There can be an issue with (depending on distro) on detecting the USB as
some versions of Linux try to install the USB-CDROM first but as I
understand it this has become a non-issue with newer versions.
Just today I was installing a Telstra Elite (above) into a uLinux router.
Had some issues but when I finally identified the correct port it was all
good.
Kind Regards
