Ubuntu have complicated GRUBby things in Karmic. It builds
a menu.lst-equivalent on the fly, uses it, discards it.

"Changes are made to /etc/default/grub & files in /etc/grub.d
 When "sudo update-grub" is run, the scripts in these
 files make the changes to grub.cfg"
