Hi, from your USB list the first device is your modem:
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0af0:6701 Option (possible, not sure what this one
is)
Googling that, brought up this page:
http://snippets.aktagon.com/snippets/95-3G-connection-with-Linux-and-Option-Globetrotter-GT-Max-7-2-ready-
This page describes how to get the modem working on a Finland ISP
connection, but there are important information about setting the device
into the correct mode (see the troubleshooting part).
Have a look, see if what the person gives works for you. You should be able
to adapt the wvdial setup as described by Peter in another post on the list.
The guide is for debian, so you can use/adapt it for Ubuntu. (as you are
new, you may not yet know the Ubuntu is based on Debian, so generally you
can use debian solutions as well.
There is also this thread, which may be of help:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=405461 (it is to get the modem
working with bigpond, but the other information contained could help.
As stated, I have no personal experience with this device, so my help is
thus limited to get the hardware working. AT this point, it may be that your
hardware is all ok, and it is your connection configuration that is wrong.
