Should be safe enough, apart from a wrong click somewhere telling it to reformat that partition (it won't by default). 

"should" is the operative word though ;)

I'm not using LVM ( I think) and there's not really anything mission
critical, so I might go ahead and see what happens. Seeing as Linux
mint is based on Ubuntu, there shouldn't be too many issues ( Ha!
famous last words :) ).
