the number of CD's required, appears to be getting too large; along the lines
on win2k.

A problem with the "progess" as you would apparently put it, of "comes with
most of the recent bells and whistles", is that, like MS, bells and whistles
appear to be put before functionality and bug-fixing. All I want ("is a room
somehere, far away from the cold night air, ...") is a system that works, with
minimal bugs, and, without programming defects like the gigasecond bug, and,
that does not require hardware upgrades or a new computer to run the latest
(relatively) stable software ("... Oh, woooouldn't it be loverly...").

Also, from the nature of the beast, it likely, like, apparently, win2k, 
requires a much bigger beast to carry it, than my little Cyrix 686 with 64MB
RAM...
