all somewhat different from the other. APT, however, seems to get around
a bit (or is that only in name?). It seems that RPM is more "popular" in
the sense that its use is more widespread. However, you said "tgz is not
a package management system" yet it is very widespread. So...decisions
about package management seem to come down to personal preferences as
much as any technical merit. Perhaps Deb does not make a good "lowest
common denominator".
