testing (currently wheezy) or unstable (always sid) don't have numbers because 
they are not "released" in that sense - they don't have numbers yet, and are 
updated with new builds, I think about every 6 hours.

The current development release is 'sid' ... it always keeps that codename, when 
the current 'testing' gets released then the new 'testing' gets the codename for 
the next stable release planned .... so 'wheezy' (without a release number) is 
probably a better indication of what version a system is than 'testing'.
