Thank you Andrew, it was a step in the right direction, the boot USB
indicated activity for 4 or 5 minutes before stopping.
It's encouragement for me to check Ian Morrison's bootloaders again
(www.linuxium.com.au). I don't altogether understand what he's
recommending but I'll have another go at it and report soon.
