Some interest has been expressed in forming a group of Perth FreeBSD
users (and probably NetBSD etc as well). This will be discussed at the
PLUG (Linux) meeting tonight (if it happens) at the University of WA's
Computer Club (in the Guild Building, enter at the stairwell nearest the
Yacht Club). PLUG has been going great guns so far, helping many of its
members and generating a lot of interest in free unices and some
mutually beneficial business. Besides, it's usually fun.
If you want to be a part of this, please email me
<mailto:leonb at ami.com.au> now. If you happen to not have email access to
hand, call me voice on 0411-655-020.
I have been told that Curtin has many FreeBSD users, so it is likely
that meetings will be hosted at or near there.
It becomes more imperative to get together for mutual support when you
consider that the likely alternative to installing a free unix (or
low-cost, like BSDi) is Windows. There is much record of classic
consequences of using this proprietary operating system (for example, at
http://www.kirch.net/unix-nt.html) if you need motivation!
