I s'pose that's what comes from an OS that relies on the BIOS to do a lot of
its work.  Linux is nice like that - once you've booted you don't need the
BIOS.

When I was new to Linux (well, newer than what I am now that is...) I used
this fact as an easy way to boot. It went like this...

I installed Windows on my Primary Master disk, and Linux on my Secondary
Master (Primary Slave would have worked just as well).
When I booted to Windows I enabled the Primary Master in the BIOS.  When I
wanted Linux I disabled the Primary Master.

Now where this is good is that when you boot Linux in this way, it still
recognizes the Windows Disk (the Primary Master that was disabled in the
BIOS) because like I said, Linux doesn't need the BIOS once it boots.
