export DISPLAY=:0.0


run this command before running applixware et al, and put this command in
your ~/.bash_profile or /etc/profile for it to be exported everytime you
log
on.

If you use tcsh rather than bash, I believe the command you want is
setenv DISPLAY :0.0
and you'll want to put this in ~/.tcshrc and /etc/tcshrc
