I enjoy using Java as a development environment, though the speed issue is
always there. C++ is a truely horrible lanugage, Java has sought to refine it,
and has for the most part succeded. So if you're into object oriented
programming, and the ability to use object oriented design and analysis
methods, java stands out as a very well engineered language. But if you don't
grok OO, it will likely seems a very poor substitute for your favorite
language.
