Always clean. Redhat can't handle it. Turbolinux and suse worked well.

Yes, gnome is very nice, that is for the few minutes it's up before it
crashes. :)

There are a lot more programs. 

As for windows being easier, I have to disagree. Give a computer
newbie a windows cd and a redhat cd and ask him to install both os's
on unknown hardware and freshly formatted drives. He'll get nowhere
with either of them.
