In my experience, people who don't know what distro they want probably
want Mandrake or SUSE, while people who do know what distro they want
usually want Debian. Sounds like you are still at the stage of choosing
your distro for particular fancy features or default configurations, so
SUSE is probably as good a choice as any. Eventually, you may get to the
point where you choose your distro as a reliable and well-architected
foundation upon which to make your personal customizations. It is then
that you will start to use and appreciate Debian.
