Mmmm, if this was the case you would still be able to view the shares and
the server in Net Neighboughood. From what's been said, neither
can be seen.

Richard is probably right about ensuring the same subnet or setting up a
WINS server in samba - smb.conf: `wins support = yes' and make sure you're
running nmbd (man nmbd).
