are you specifying the port and IRQ? That driver needs it. I use it for
the SCSI adapter that came with my Zip drive. /etc/conf.modules has:

alias scsihostadapter aha152x
options aha152x aha152x=0x140,11

A 'B' revision of a chip should be backward compatible anyway.
