Yuk, non-free software. :-P  Sorry, I'm just prejudiced.  My platform for
Web/database development is the Perl DBI.  I looked at PHP but I decided I
didn't want to have to learn Python.  Nothing against Python, but why learn
another language if you don't have to.  Admittedly there don't seem to be
any very good rapid development tools for Perl and databases.  The closest
is probably HTML::Embperl.

While I'm here, does anyone have any knowledge of these obscurities
(probably not, but it can't hurt to ask):

(a) The meaning of pda: do_pd_write: status = 0x1051 = ERR SEEK READY IDNF
    when making a filesystem on a paride device (SparQ if you must know).

(b) Why wwwcount.cgi might say "no auto file creation block in conf file"
    when there is, and when the conf file *is* readable by the Web user?

(c) How I might get samba to stop freaking out when the net goes down?
