[plug] Record Keeping System

Yeh, Id thought of Perl or Python, but really, I think they are
overly complex for the task

My language will have approx 10 commands.... the most complex thing
about it is its recursive nature and the ability to access variables of the
parent from the child....

It is very difficult to explain this stuff without a piece of paper,
but trust me, its simple. I only want a small language to hide the
complexities of real life from the programmers, as Ive worked in super for a
while now and I dont want to scare them :) Also, it is not a situation where
you want to give them endless scope to hack, the language must be small and
well-defined. Extensible? Definitely not. Simple? yes. Restrictive?
Possibly, but its meant to be. Only by being restrictive can I hope to
maintain a clean set of data... Ive seen what happens in this field with
flat files and generic languages.... Things become a mess.

Perl is more of a glue language, and it would be much to easy for a
programmer to 'think outside the box' and short-circuit the entire basis of
why I think this architecture would work.

	Simon,
sorry, that is way outside my experience. But are you familiar with
Perl?
It has good OO-featues, is quasi-interpreted but fast (run-time
compile),
excellent database connectivity and text-processing featues.
Perhaps you could present your system as a perl library. It seems
to be
very popular in database environments. Lots of people know Perl
already.
