[plug] depmod problem?

Brian,

Just a thought on this thread,

Man page for modprobe ( I think it was ) notes that conf.modules has been
depreciated and should be changed over to modules.conf. This shouldn't
affect any running as it seems to be cosmetic only (all it is, is a name
change - file format is the same) Secondly, there is a pre-install option
that will allow you to force a particular module to be loaded from memory
it goes something like:

alias eth0 ne2kpci
options ne2kpci pre-install modprobe 8390

Check the man page though.

A second point,
<stupid question>
you have placed the names of the modules you want to load in /etc/modules?
this is the file that debian looks through for the modules that you wish to
load.
</stupid question>

HTH
