[plug] Confirmation of dd

I'd just like to confirm what is supposed to happen with the dd comand ..

I have an installed system (across several partitions) on /dev/hda

I have an identical drive (brand, model, size) that is blank on /dev/hdb

will the command .. :

dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb

.. make a duplicate of hda onto hdb with all partition & boot information
intact?

.. or am I asking too much of a simple program?

Any pointers appreciated.
