I have managed to screw up the consoles - tiny tiny green font, doubled across the screen (about 256 characters wide!!). Did it by setting a remote vnc session to use gnome whilst I already had a gnome session running locally. Live and learn ... Rescued X, but how do I reset the consoles to a sane setting - stty sane didnt work. BillK
