[plug] Video cards - the sequel

Thanks for the follow up post Dennis.

I went out on Sunday to buy one, but NOT ONE shop had a GF2 MX card installed
with an OpenGL game to look at. Even shops which had stock were blatant about
the fact that the "$6.00 they make on the card" is not enough for them to be
bothered demonstrating it.

Now armed with your experience, the choice between the MX and GTS is easy! I
wanted to be sure the MX was acceptable for Q3A. And my experience has
determined which shops I will NOT be taking my money to!

If anyone is interested in shops to avoid, check the WAN for Saturday, and
which shops are open Sunday.. Poor service and lack of stock for an
advertised item are worth rewarding.

Once I have gained some experience in Q3A, a LAN day for PLUGers would be a
top idea! I think headphones would be a good requirement though. Q3A for
Linux is available for ~$40 from the Linux shop on Lord St (cnr Edward St). I
have Cat 5 cables, but no 100Mb hub.

Which precessor are you using Dennis?
Mine is an Athlon 800 with 128 Mb RAM, which (hopefully) should hack it.

Regards,

Garry.
