In regard to Partition Magic - I can only vouch for version 5 or above.

In regard to not having Windows - you will probably need to install
Partition Magic on a Windows machine in order to make the 'Emergency Rescue
Disks' - this is a multiple boot disk set, which you can then use to boot
your machine from the floppy. It is then a relatively simple matter to use
Partition Magic to alter your partition boundaries.

Some words of caution :

1 - READ (x2) the manual that comes with your version of Partition Magic.
2 - think carefully about 'what you really need to do'
3 - bear in mind that when you change the /boot partition (make larger) -
Partition Magic will have to move data and move/resize other partitions
accordingly.
3 - do not choose to many tasks at once.
4 - consider whether it may be easier/quicker to just install Linux from
scratch.

TIP : If you decide to install from scratch - use Partition Magic to
create all of the desired partitions - then when you install Linux, assign
each partition manually - doing it this way allows you to experiment with
partition sizes and distribution, and change them at will 'BEFORE'
installing Linux.

But above all else - use extreme care and beware the risks.

See table below for the partitioning I used on one of my machines, the
machine dual boots with Win98SE and Redhat 7.3 - the hard drive size is
approx 10Gb - if you are using only Linux then you can ignore the Windows
partitions - C:SYSTEM - FAT32, D:UTILITIES - FAT32, E:STORAGE - FAT32,
F:SETUP - FAT32

Note: You can have up to four Primary partitions (including the Extended
partition)
