ooh goody.... if things go well with the tests & trials I'm doing @work,
I may have about 10 EEPROMs for him to write...
On much the same note, has anybody tried netboot 486 thin-x-clients? I'm
looking at
nic->dhcp->tftp->kernel_boot->basic_init->X_query_XDMCP_server as a boot
process, got it mostly working with a "chrootable" debian install that
boots off nfs quite happily with a couple of mods made to cope with ro /
but It needs testing and X isn't running yet (no time, work just got
busy - a damnn critical production mac ate its hdd, etc etc). Might give
the 486s a new lease on life... or not. We'll see, but I'd appreciate
comments from anybody who has tried this before wrt to XFree86
performance on 486 machines.
I'll probably use PXE NICs for the PCI P100s etc. Thoughts anybody?
