[plug] operating multiple e-mail clients

Hello all,
I am using kmail and it goes into    
'/home/daniel/Mail/'

I thought it should be a simple matter to alter this so it went into    
'/home/daniel/kmail/Mail'
so that I can then install Balsa and then Evolution etc so as to try 
different mail clients.  Is this possible? (I've looked without success)

The other way is to set up different users specially for the task
and 'su user' into them.  It seems 'a kludge' - but is it the best way?
