Given the previous discussions about problems with ADSL in this state
and the Wellington Street exchange needing to be replaced, does anyone
know anything about the following; where and when the public meetings
are being held?
It sounds like it could be an opportunity to have the ADSL access in WA
improved, or, to lobby for it, anyway.

Meetings focus on regional telecommunications
A series of public meetings into telecommunications in regional areas is
underway across Western Australia.
A senior policy officer with the Department of Industry and Technology,
Dan Sherr, says the inquiry follows a similar process carried out in 1997.
He says this inquiry will look at what improvements have been made since
the first one and what new issues have arisen since then.
Mr Sherr says initial meetings have highlighted access to broadband
services, radio and mobile phone access as the major concerns.
"There are great swathes of the state that are out of terrestrial mobile
phone reach, towns like Marble Bar and Nullagine don't have any," he said.
