You need to use ide-scsi, or something like that .. I forget exactly what
its called, it's been a while :) Basically, it makes linux think your IDE
burner is a SCSI device.
Try google.

one of my friends is having this problem:
"i have bought a sony cd-writer. linux detected the hardware and installed
it perfectly. but i cannot write any cd (using koncd or kreatecd) as the
programs keep searching for scsi device whereas my cd-writer is
ide-connected. what can i do, anyone pls suggest?"
