  Good morning,
  Installed Debian kernel 2.4.22-1-k7 late yesterday everything looked fine
  until I  did a reboot, this is what I got

      Linux VFS: Cannot open root device "302" or 03:02
      Please append a correct "root=" boot option
      Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:02
       spurious 8259A interupt: IRQ7.

  What did I do wrong & how do we perform a repair???
  Do have a rescue & root disk for Debian Woody if they help.
  Having a spare machine from which to work really pays off
