At 4.5 Gb per DVD, 1Tb is a *lot* of DVDs. OK, perhaps not really a lot, but
enough to make indexing  so that you can find individual items later a serious
consideration.

For that much data, if I could afford it, I'd go for DLT with 200 Gb tapes.
I'm unlikely to ever have that much free cash of course :-(
