Hi Trevor,
I asked the plug's recent guest speaker on the new kernels about this
recently. If I remember correctly he said the centrino was supported in
the latest 2.5.71 or 2.5.71. (Tony is on the ball).
I guess the best way to test this out is to cook your own Knoppix.
There is also an AMD energy efficient chip coming soon for laptops. See
tomshardware (no idea on linux compatability with those).
The exact opposite idea is the Desknote - a desktop chip in a notebook
with a full size removeable 3 1/2 inch hard drive. Evidently they are
available from Aopen, (and Acer) but not yet from Toshiba or IBM
(discounting the G which has laptop hdd). Acer should include 12months
free physio and a pair of steel caps.
