files in ~/.mozilla , and you probably don't want to share them between 
moz 1.0.x and 1.3 due to the many changes between the versions. Maybe 
it'll work, but you may also risk profile corruption.

You won't. Back up your /home/$USER/.mozilla directory before installing 
mozilla 1.3 though.
