and you would have probably been correct ;)

AFAIK it requires the ISP to setup so that *any* email to mybiz.com goes into
your ISP based pop account (could be anything really). Then you can use
procmail recipes to pull em out into your own pop server into the different
accounts.

This setup is quite common - by the sounds of it that little box runs procmail
or something.
