With luck, they won't get the chance. AlintaGas and Western Power, plus 
other utilities in other states, are eyeing the 'net access wholesale 
business with great interest. They're running underground power down the 
street from me at work right now, and they're dropping in lots of cable 
conduit for fibre too :-) . The trials in Como are still going... wonder 
how long it'll be before we can get fibre-based 'net access from western 
power or a reseller?

If nothing else, some competition to Telstra can't possibly hurt.
