True. OTOH, you're paying them for a service, and think it reasonable to 
expect to get that service. If they can't do it, they should raise the 
price and buy a bigger mailserver cluster. The problem appears to be 
largely that iiNet isn't overprovisioning enough to handle spikes - 
malicious or otherwise - in demand.

As for iiNet, it's not just spam - they've been repeatedly DoSed 
(targeted at the mailservers), hit by wave after wave of viri, etc. 
Reality of doing business on the 'net I guess.

Perhaps it's just not practical for an ISP to run a reliable mail 
server? (looks around) nope, that's not it. Maybe iiNet just can't do 
it? Or perhaps the poor techs responsible for it are being asked to run 
it on the smell of an oily rag - this is my guess.
