Recently, a thread arose, about computer programming training, and the
dreaded java was mentioned.
On the Red Hat elearning training web site, at
http://www.redhat.com/training/elearning/ there is a course, under
General Programming, named Programming Fundamentals, at
http://www.redhat.com/training/elearning/catalog/courses/programming_fundamentals.html
which includes java. Thus, as was mentioned, there are a few, who regard
java as appropriate for teaching computer programming.
However, the reputation of the courses, may be marred slightly, by the
following.
Also, on the Red Hat elearning website, in the Software Requirements for
other courses, was the requirement "A word processing application, such
as Microsoft Word." It is interesting, and amusing, that the software
requirements refer to an MS application, and, specifically to MS Word,
rather than to either a Linux application, or word processors in general
(without naming any particular word processors). Perhaps Red Hat regards
MS Word as better than the Linux word processors?
