Hi All,

What is the easiest way to be able to specify the ftp root directory for
each user wiuth ftp access to a server. Basically at the moment I have
the userbase authenticating against /etc/passwd with there home
directories pointing to /home/$user and there email is stored in
/home/$user/Maildir...at the moment I also have a /home/$user/v_web
directory where there web page is located (commercial webpages, not
personal webpages) and I have proftpd pointing at /home/$user/v_web.
This is turning out to be a real pain in the arse and I would like to be
able to keep the websites located under /var/www/ and give ftp access to
the /var/www/$website directory for each user and *also* give ftp access
to /home/$user/public_html for their personal webpages. The only way I
can think of at the moment would be to use LDAP or SQL and I have all of
about 0 experience with either of these (although I am prepared to go
this way if I have to.

Cheers,

Adam.
