[plug] Dead squid

Im running squid 2.4 on debian 2.4.18

It sometimes stops responding to client requests, tail 
of /var/log/squid/cache.log below..

Restarting squid fixes everything, it picks up the dns info from resolv.conf 
on startup with no problems. 

Any ideas what might be causing it to stop responding?
