My IP address to connect via WinXP is 192.168.1.1 via USB and Ethernet.

My ifconfig shows:

I ran PPPoE Config from KDE and it reported:

"Looking for PPPoE Access Concentrator on eth0

Sorry, I scanned 1 interface but the Access Concentrator of your provider
did not respond. Please check your network and modem cables. Another reason
for the scan utility failure may be another PPPoE process which controls the
modem."

Could I request some more help please?

Hmm. It appears to be a DSL router with ethernet, so I'd recommend
getting a crossover ethernet cable and plugging the modem into the LAN
port on your computer. As you do not have a network, you won't need to
worry about making things work with an existing network.

In general, ADSL gear works MUCH more easily under Linux if you can use
Ethernet instead of USB. Drivers provided by manufacturers for USB use
tend to be difficult to install, outdated, or simply entirely absent.

Yep.
