Yeah you are right the 508 is marc-w on the server.  The uid on my 
computer is 500. I don't want root to be the only one to have access and 
I'm trying to enforce group usage.

Server is:
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) 
groups=0(root),1(bin),2(daemon),3(sys),4(adm),6(disk),10(wheel)
Laptop:
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) 
groups=0(root),1(bin),2(daemon),3(sys),4(adm),6(disk),10(wheel)
