James,
I downloaded firefox-0.9.3-i686-linux-gtk2+xft-installer.tar.gz from
Mozilla. Mozilla was originally installed as part of the Mandrake 9 install
but I removed it as didn't need require all of the extras - just wanted
Firefox as that's what I use on my Windoze boxes. Removed it by uninstalling
via GnoRPM.

And yes, was installing as root and was attempting to install it to
/usr/local/firefox as I believe /usr/local/ is where user installed software
is supposed to go (correct?). After downloading the tarball, I uncompressed
it and then ran the firefox-installer script.

Joel.
