[plug] apt-get and Gnome2 issue

Howdy PLUG,

I went to install an innocent Gnome application called planner, and it
wants to remove sizable portions of my Gnome installation (Debian).
Would I be right in assuming things won't be so pretty after going ahead
with this, or has Gnome2 been repackaged quite significantly since the
last time I upgraded?

If I start an upgrade - there are 454 packages requiring upgrading, but
I'm assuming that installing planner would pull in the required updates,
thus it is probably some version conflict that will screw over my
system?

Should i perhaps do the hefty upgrade and then try, or am I missing
several points here, or is apt-get just simply out to get me this month?

My sources are:
deb http://ftp.aarnet.edu.au/debian testing main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp.aarnet.edu.au/debian-non-US testing/non-US main contrib
non-free
deb http://ftp.aarnet.edu.au/debian unstable main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp.aarnet.edu.au/debian-non-US unstable/non-US main contrib
non-free

(my laptop does not live on WAIX)

I try to live out of testing where possible.

Thanks,

Ryan
