Hi, I don't understand the reasoning for doing that as root...what does
that achieve? Don't you need to modify the way that Mozilla is invoked,
so that the environment variable is set that way when Mozilla starts up?
Can you just do the following as a test (as your normal user -- and
forget about clicking on some KDE Mozilla button or icon):
env NPX_PLUGIN_PATH=/usr/java/j2re-1_4_2_03/plugin/i386/ns4 mozilla

> cd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
> ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_03/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so .

Are you sure you're meant to do that? Whatever happened to
NPX_PLUGIN_PATH?

PS. I don't know what I'm talking about.
