[plug] xfree wierdness

Howdy all

Not quite sure what i have done wrong here, but if someone would point
me in right direction I would appreciate it :))

Problem:

If I type startx at prompt .... xdm comes up in great fashion.
If on the other hand i try to use gdm or kdm i get the Nvidia splash
and then as that disappears i briefly see a watch mouse icon and then all
goes black
and the process starts again.
After 6 or so goes I get a message to say that xfree could not be started.
