Hi all!

Q. How to set hard drive settings for boot in Debian?

I believe I want something like ...

         hdparm -c3 -u1 -k1 -m16 /dev/hda
         hdparm -c3 -u1 -k1 -m16 /dev/hdb

to be placed in a file somewhere (Redhat uses /etc/rc.d/rc.local I
believe...) for boot.

Also, are there any other tweaks for speed I am missing??

I'm using two new WD 100ATA 7200rpm drives (40G is model 400JB and 120G is
model 1200JB)

my figures for hdb are:

         buffer-cache reads: 800Mb/sec
         buffered disk reads: 5.22Mb/sec

The second figure is not so good...

All help appreciated,

Steve
