"Top posting" is when you place the words of your reply before the words
to which you are replying. In comparison, what I've done here is "bottom
posting", where my own writing is placed below the quoted messages. That
is, the bottom posting means that the conversation is printed in normal
chronological order.

(For me it certainly was "pages and pages", but I understand your point
that it might have only been a couple of pages for some people.) But I
think Michael's* point was this:

 - your posting contained 98 lines of text in total.
 - your content only occupied 12 lines of that not including your
   signature, and 21 lines in total including your signature.
 - therefore, almost 80% of your posting was composed of
   irrelevant dead weight.
