[plug] cupsd issues

Hi all

I recently moved my canon bjc-210SP from my mail machine (leela) to an 
under-utilised server (kif) so I can dedicate leela's port to an XM1541 cable 
and run cbm4linux. 

After installing cups and configuring, it refuses to print. The web interface 
claims "Parallel port busy; will retry in 30 seconds..."

Anyone struck this before? Ive googled and it appears a few other people have 
hit this problem, but none of them actually follow up with the solution....
