Such is the value of a good change management system. Did you try which

What distro are you using? I'm on Debian sid and KDE 3.2.2-1 is for the
most part working fine. I have this funny problem that sometimes it
freezes up on my when I'm making some heavy use of alt-tab. When this
happens I can't restart X with cntrl-alt-backspace nor switch to a
virtual terminal. I can, however, log out and log back into KDE.
Apart from this my KDE setup is working wonderfully and I am very happy
with the way KDE has blossomed and developed into an awesome yet
practical and mostly stable desktop environment to rival the incumbent
monopoly.
